John Desko Salary – He’s a retired head coach of the lacrosse. For two seasons, from 1999 to 2021, Desko coached the men’s lacrosse team at the University of Syracuse. The Hall of Fame coach Roy Simmons Jr, took over Desko as head coach in 1999.
In Camillus, a suburb of Syracuse, a Desko family grew up. In West Genesee, the 15-time State Champions, he played secondary lacrosse.
Desko began in the centre of the camp and was changed to defence by Jay Gallagher, the assistant coach. Having helped Syracuse in 1979 to a record of 10–5 and the first school playoff NCAA berth, he won an All-American honour. He also played all-American lacrosse at Syracuse. Simmons offered Desko an assistant job after assistant coach Jay Gallagher opted to leave Syracuse. Desko earning barely $1,000 a year as a coach, and waited tables in his leisure time. He stayed on as an assistant for following 19 years. After taking over the top job from Roy Simmons Jr. in 1999, he became the first person outside of the Simmons family to coach Syracuse lacrosse since 1931
Desko was named USILA Division I Coach of the Year for 2008 after guiding the Orange to a Championship over Johns Hopkins.
He was the ACC coach of the year for the fourth straight season from 2015 to 2018
